Volume 1, Issue 16: 4/26/24

Greetings Bulldogs! Happy Friday.

Early Voting is Happening NOW:

The May election voting started MONDAY. Early voting is taking place in the TISD board room from 8-5 pm. Early voting will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week.

Common misconceptions about voting:

  1. “My vote doesn’t matter” - Not true! In fact, here are some facts about the most recent bonds in TISD. The 2018 bond had 3 propositions. Proposition A failed by only 32 votes. Proposition B failed by 16 votes, and Proposition C failed by 53 votes. In 2017 there was only one proposition and it failed by 41 votes. The moral of the story is… your vote matters.

  2. “I have heard this or that about the election, and I don’t really need to vote the way I want to vote because I bet a bunch of people are going to go vote and what I want to happen will happen.” - That is a common misconception and the scary thing is… there is no “redo”... you can’t go back after the votes are tallied and say… oh, well if I would have known all those people never voted, I would have voted… too late. So get out there and vote AND tell the folks you know to go vote.

  3. “I don’t have time to vote, it’s complicated/scary, or it is going to take a long time” - Although voting has been very steady, there has rarely been a wait. It only takes a few minutes as there are only a few items on this ballot.

All that said, get out there and vote! Your vote = your voice!!!
